Close to Cornwall's many attractions

Hicks Mill is a great central location situated next to the Coast to Coast Tramway Cycle Trail, with local cycle hire.

The cathedral city of Truro with its many gourmet restaurants, cinema and the Hall for Cornwall (theatre offering a wide spectrum of concerts and plays) is just 10 minutes drive away.

Falmouth and the Roseland

Falmouth is just a little further away. The town lies on the third largest deep water harbour in the world, and is the location of the National Maritime Museum, Pendennis Castle, many antique shops and quayside restaurants and tavernas. There are boat trips from Falmouth to St Mawes, Helford Passage and up the river to Malpas. Explore the beautiful Fal estuary with Mylor Marina and the village of Flushing.

The King Harry Ferry (10 minutes drive) is the gateway to the Roseland peninsula. Visit the yachting paradise of St Mawes with its castle built by Henry VIII, St Just-in-Roseland Church, the pretty village of Veryan and close by Melinsey Mill, which dates back to the 16th century.

Beaches

The Atlantic Coast (10 minutes) is famed for its beautiful stretch of beaches from Portreath to Padstow. Newquay is home to the Bluereef Aquarium and Newquay Zoo Environmental Park. Further west St Ives and Penzance are easily reached.

The Lizard peninsula (30 minutes) offers breathtaking views, coastal walks, fishing villages, caves and inlets, and the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek.

Country Houses & Gardens

It's just a short drive to many of the famous Cornish gardens, including Trelissick (NT), Trebah, Glendurgan (NT) and Trewithen. The Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock House and Gardens (NT) are all within 30 minutes drive.

Leisure Activities

Local activities include golf, sailing, fishing, horse riding, cycling and coastal walks.
